Looking for a way to download maps for offline use on the new Google Maps app for iOS devices? Wondering if you can actually do that?
The answer is yes, and the tip is simple.
It is identical to the Android hack we all heard about last week. Just type in “OK Maps” in to the search bar and you get to download map for offline use.
Once you enter the phrase and tap on search you’ll see the Google Maps icon show up on the screen. Once the icon is no longer transparent you’ll see a message at the bottom of the screen stating the area has been saved.
If you try to download map of a larger area than it can handle, you will be asked to zoom in to select a smaller area.
The only way to access your saved maps is to go to the location you’ve saved manually. Currently there isn’t a feature that allows you to jump straight to cached locations, says CNET.
